Dr. Abbott was born in Ashland, Kentucky and raised in nearby Catlettsburg, Kentucky. He began his college career as an upright and electric bassist in the Jazz Studies Department at Morehead State University in Kentucky. His senior year he changed his major and began pursuing veterinary medicine. He spent the next 4 years in Alabama and graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2013. For the next 2 years he worked at a 24/7 general practice and emergency care facility in Morgantown, West Virginia. Soon after starting his career in West Virginia, his employer introduced him to his future wife, Jade, who is a West Virginia native. He later started a small veterinary relief business working mainly in the greater Pittsburgh area in both general and emergency care.
Dr. Abbott enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially cytology, ultrasonography, orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery. In order to best serve his clients and patients, Dr. Abbott strives to educate his clients so that as a team they can find the best solution for them and their pet.
In his spare time, he and his wife enjoy hiking, caving, rappelling, riding and working on motorcycles, and spending time with their Black Labrador, Miles. You may run into their family out camping at Lake Vesuvius or at the local farmers’ market buying cucumbers to make their favorite bread and butter pickle recipe.
